Intracranial aneurysms (IAs), as a common cerebrovascular disease, claims a worldwide morbidity rate of 3.2%. Inflammation, pivotal in the pathogenesis of IAs, influences their formation, growth, and rupture. This review investigates aspirin's modulation of inflammatory pathways within this context. With IAs carrying significant morbidity and mortality upon IAs rupture and current interventions limited to surgical clipping and endovascular coiling, the quest for pharmacological options is imperative. Aspirin's role in cardiovascular prevention, due to its anti-inflammatory effects, presents a potential therapeutic avenue for IAs. In this review, we examine aspirin's efficacy in experimental models and clinical settings, highlighting its impact on the progression and rupture risks of unruptured IAs. The underlying mechanisms of aspirin's impact on IAs are explored, with its ability examined to attenuate endothelial dysfunction and vascular injury. This review may provide a theoretical basis for the use of aspirin, suggesting a promising strategy for IAs management. However, the optimal dosing, safety, and long-term efficacy remain to be established. The implications of aspirin therapy are significant in light of current surgical and endovascular treatments. Further research is encouraged to refine aspirin's clinical application in the management of unruptured IAs, with the ultimate aim of reducing the incidence of aneurysms rupture.

Background: The deposition of Aß42 has been regarded as one of the important pathological features of Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, drug development for Aß42 toxicity has been progressed slowly. Objective: Our aim was to introduce the effect and related mechanism of trehalose on an Aßarc (arctic mutant Aß42) Drosophila AD model. Methods: The human Aßarc was expressed in Drosophila to construct the AD model. Trehalose was added to the culture vial. The movement ability was determined by detecting climbing ability and flight ability. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect the levels of Aßarc, ATP, and lactate. Electron microscopy assay, mitochondrial membrane potential assay, and mitochondrial respiration assay were used to assess the mitochondrial structure and function. Results: Trehalose strongly improved the movement ability of Aßarc Drosophila in a concentration gradient-dependent manner. Furthermore, trehalose increased the content of ATP and decreased the content of Aßarc and lactate both in the brain and thorax of Aßarc Drosophila. More importantly, the mitochondrial structure and function were greatly improved by trehalose treatment in Aßarc Drosophila. Conclusion: Trehalose improves movement ability at least partly by reducing the Aßarc level and restoring the mitochondrial structure and function in Aßarc Drosophila.

Galectin-3 has a variety of important pathophysiological significance in the human body. Much evidence shows that the abnormal expression of galectin-3 is related to the formation and development of many diseases. Pectin is mostly obtained from processed citrus fruits and apples and is a known natural inhibitor of galactin-3. A large number of peels produced each year are discarded, and it is necessary to recycle some of the economically valuable active compounds in these by-products to reduce resource waste and environmental pollution. By binding with galectin-3, pectin can directly reduce the expression level of galectin-3 on the one hand, and regulate the expression level of cytokines by regulating certain signaling pathways on the other hand, to achieve the effect of treating diseases. This paper begins by presenting an overview of the basic structure of pectin, subsequently followed by a description of the structure of galectin-3 and its detrimental impact on human health when expressed abnormally. The health effects of pectin as a galectin-3 inhibitor were then summarized from the perspectives of anticancer, anti-inflammatory, ameliorating fibrotic diseases, and anti-diabetes. Finally, the challenges and prospects of future research on pectin are presented, which provide important references for expanding the application of pectin in the pharmaceutical industry or developing functional dietary supplements.

Background: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is associated with aberrant gene expression that is a common peripheral vascular disease. Here, we aimed to elucidate that the epigenetic modification of forkhead box protein 3 (FOXP3) at the post-transcriptional level, which might be the key trigger leading to the down-regulation of FOXP3 expression in DVT. Methods: In order to explore the relationship between microRNAs (miRNAs) and FOXP3, mRNA and microRNA microarray analysis were performed. Dual luciferase reporter assay was used to verify the upstream miRNAs of FOXP3. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, flow cytometry and Western blot were used to detect the relative expression of miR-6132 and FOXP3. Additionally, DVT models were established to investigate the role of miR-6132 by Murine Doppler Ultrasound and Hematoxylin-Eosin staining. Results: Microarray and flow cytometry results showed that the FOXP3 expression was decreased while miR-6132 level was increased substantially in DVT, and there was significant negative correlation between miR-6132 and FOXP3. Moreover, we discovered that overexpressed miR-6132 reduced FOXP3 expression and aggravated DVT formation, while miR-6132 knockdown increased FOXP3 expression and alleviated DVT formation. Dual luciferase reporter assay validated the direct binding of miR-6132 to FOXP3. Conclusion: Collectively, our data elucidate a new avenue through which up-regulated miR-6132 contributes to the formation and progression of DVT by inhibiting FOXP3 expression.

Phospholipids (PL) have garnered significant attention due to their physiological activities. Milk and other dairy products are important dietary sources for humans and have been extensively used to analyze the presence of PL by various analytical techniques. In this paper, the analysis techniques of PL were reviewed with the eight trigrams of phospholipidomics and a comprehensive fingerprint of 1295 PLs covering 8 subclasses in milk and other dairy products, especially. Technology is the primary productive force. Based on phospholipidomics technology, we further review the relationship between the composition of PL and factors that may be involved in processing and experimental operation, and emphasized the significance of the biological role played by PL in dietary supplements and biomarkers (production, processing and clinical research), and providing the future research directions.

WHAT IS KNOWN ON THE SUBJECT?: Involuntary detention is a legislative power that allows people to be taken against their will for a mandatory mental health assessment and is known to be a restrictive and traumatizing process for patients. While there is some literature examining police/ambulance and mental health worker co-response models, the conclusions are mixed as to whether they reduce rates of involuntary detentions in mentally ill people. The Police, Ambulance, Clinician Early Response (PACER) model is an example of a tri-response mental health crisis response team whose role is to respond and assess people thought to be experiencing a mental health crisis. There is little literature to determine whether PACER tri-response model reduces incidents of involuntary detention when compared with standard police and/or ambulance responses. WHAT THIS PAPER ADDS TO EXISTING KNOWLEDGE?: This paper describes the outcomes of patients assessed by a PACER team, compared with patients who were assessed by police or ambulance. It demonstrates that PACER may reduce unnecessary involuntary detentions through expert mental health assessment for patients coming to emergency services for assistance. It is one of only two published studies examining a tri-response model. WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE?: The results of this study may support health and policing policymakers to implement PACER models as a means of reducing involuntary detentions, reducing demand for emergency departments, reducing time spent by emergency services responding to people experiencing mental health crisis and improving outcomes for people with mental illness. ABSTRACT: BACKGROUND: Involuntary detention is a common method of enforcing mental health assessment and treatment; however, it is associated with poor patient outcomes and high emergency service and hospital demand. AIM: To examine the association between (1) Police, Ambulance, Clinician, Early Response (PACER) model, (2) police or (3) ambulance response and rates of involuntary detention of mentally ill people. METHODS: A retrospective observational study using routine administrative data in an Australian City, over a 12-month period (2019-2020). RESULTS: Over a 12-month period, 8577 people received crisis mental health intervention in the study setting. We observed an 18% increase in the relative risk of being involuntarily detained by police, and a 640% increase in the relative risk of being detained by ambulance. The PACER team detained 10% of their total presentations, as compared with 12% by police and 74% by ambulance. Involuntary detentions enacted by PACER were more likely to convert to a post-detention hospitalization (72%), when compared with police (27%) and ambulance (17%). DISCUSSION: PACER was associated with lower rates of involuntary detention and higher rates of post-detention hospitalization when compared to police and ambulance response. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: PACER cohort experience more positive outcomes than with police or ambulance cohorts.

Background: Bruck syndrome (BS) is an extremely rare autosomal-recessive connective tissue disorder mainly characterized by bone fragility, congenital joint contracture, and spinal deformity. It is also considered as a rare form of osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) due to features of osteopenia and fragility fractures. Its two forms, BS1 and BS2, are caused by pathogenic variations in FKBP10 and PLOD2, respectively. Objective: We aimed to improve the clinical understanding of BS by presenting a case from China and to identify the genetic variants that led to this case. Methods: OI was suspected in a Chinese boy with a history of recurrent long bone fractures, lumbar kyphosis, and dentinogenesis imperfecta (DI). Whole-exome sequencing (WES) was performed to identify pathogenic variations. Sanger sequencing was used to confirm the results of the WES. In silico analysis was used to predict the pathogenicity of genetic variants. Results: WES and Sanger sequencing revealed a compound heterozygous variation in the FKBP10 gene (NM_021939, c.23dupG in exon 1, and c.825dupC in exon 5). Both variants resulted in a frameshift and premature stop codon. Of these two variants, c.23dupG has not been previously reported. The patient's parents were heterozygous carriers of one variant. In addition, zoledronic acid treatment improved the vertebral deformity and bone mineral density (BMD) significantly in this patient. Conclusions: A novel compound heterozygous variation of FKBP10, c.23dupG/c.825dupC, was identified in a patient with moderately severe OI. Based on these findings, the patient was diagnosed with BS1 without congenital joint contractures or OI type XI. This study expands the spectrum of FKBP10 genetic variants that cause BS and OI.

Background and objective: Futile recanalization (FR) is defined as patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) due to large vessel occlusion who still exhibits functional dependence although undergoing successful mechanical thrombectomy (MT). We aimed to develop and validate a simple nomogram for predicting the probability of FR after MT treatment in AIS patients. Methods: Clinical data of AIS patients in the Jrecan clinical trial in China from March 2018 to June 2019 were collected as the derivation set (n = 162). Meanwhile, clinical data of AIS patients who underwent MT in Baotou Central Hospital and Ningbo No.2 Hospital from 2019 to 2021 were collected as the validation set (n = 170). Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed for all variables that had p < 0.2 in the univariate analysis in the derivation set. The independent risk factors of FR were further screened out and a nomogram was constructed. The performance of the nomogram was analyzed in the derivation and validation set using C-index, calibration plots, and decision curves. Results: No significant difference in FR rate was detected between the derivation set and the validation set [88/162 (54.32%) and 82/170 (48.23%), p = 0.267]. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age ≥ 65 years old (OR = 2.096, 95%CI 1.024-4.289, p = 0.043), systolic blood pressure (SBP) ≥ 180 mmHg (OR = 5.624, 95%CI 1.141-27.717, p = 0.034), onset to recanalization time (OTR) ≥ 453 min (OR = 2.759, 95%CI 1.323-5.754, p = 0.007), 24 h intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH; OR = 4.029, 95%CI 1.844 ~ 8.803, p < 0.001) were independent risk factors for FR. The C-index of the nomogram of the derivation set and the verification set were 0.739 (95%CI 0.662~0.816) and 0.703 (95%CI 0.621~0.785), respectively. Conclusion: The nomogram composed of age, SBP, OTR, and 24 h ICH can effectively predict the probability of FR after MT in AIS patients.

Photosynthesis is a major trait of interest for development of high-yield crop plants. However, little is known about the effects of high-density planting on photosynthetic responses at the whole-canopy level. Using the high-yielding maize (Zea mays L.) cultivars 'LY66', 'MC670', and 'JK968', we here conducted a two-year field experiment to assess ear development in addition to leaf characteristics and photosynthetic parameters in each canopy layer at four planting densities. Increased planting density promoted high grain yield and population-scale biomass accumulation despite reduced per-plant productivity. MC670 had the strongest adaptability to high-density planting conditions. Physiological analysis showed that increased planting density primarily led to decreases in the single-leaf area above the ear for LY66 and MC670 and below the ear for JK968. Furthermore, high planting density decreased chlorophyll content and the photosynthetic rate due to decreased canopy transmission, leading to severe decreases in single-plant biomass accumulation in the lower canopy. Moreover, increased planting density improved pre-silking biomass transfer, especially in the lower canopy. Yield showed significant positive relationships with photosynthesis and biomass in the lower canopy, demonstrating the important contributions of these leaves to grain yield under dense planting conditions. Increased planting density led to retarded ear development as a consequence of reduced glucose and fructose contents in the ears, indicating reductions in sugar transport that were associated with limited sink organ development, reduced kernel number, and yield loss. Overall, these findings highlighted the photosynthetic capacities of the lower canopy as promising targets for improving maize yield under dense planting conditions.

BACKGROUND: Many patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) do not respond well to, or tolerate conventional and biological therapies. There is currently no consensus on the treatment of refractory UC. Studies have demonstrated that the selective Janus kinase 1 inhibitor upadacitinib, a small-molecule drug, is effective and safe for treating UC. However, no studies have revealed that upadacitinib is effective in treating refractory UC with primary nonresponse to infliximab and vedolizumab. CASE SUMMARY: We report the case of a 44-year-old male patient with a chief complaint of bloody diarrhoea with mucus and pus, in addition to dizziness. The patient had recurrent disease after receiving mesalazine, prednisone, azathioprine, infliximab and vedolizumab over four years. Based on the endoscopic findings and pathological biopsy, the patient was diagnosed with refractory UC. In particular, the patient showed primary nonresponse to infliximab and vedolizumab. Based on the patient's history and recurrent disease, we decided to administer upadacitinib. During hospitalisation, the patient was received upadacitinib under our guidance. Eight weeks after the initiation of upadacitinib treatment, the patient's symptoms and endoscopic findings improved significantly. No notable adverse reactions have been reported to date. CONCLUSION: Our case report suggests that upadacitinib may represent a valuable strategy for treating refractory UC with primary nonresponse.

Introduction: This meta-analysis aimed to determine the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with core muscle exercises on pain and functional status in patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain. Methods: This study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and meta-analysis criteria for systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Randomized controlled trials published till November 2023 were searched in PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane, Embase, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Chinese Biomedical Literature, and Wanfang databases. The search strategy was related to disease type, intervention, and control measures and was structured around the search terms "low back pain," "acupuncture therapy," and "exercise." Two reviewers applied inclusion and exclusion criteria. Sensitivity and fixed effects analyses were performed to determine the primary outcomes. Results: We included 11 randomized controlled trials (n = 727) on acupuncture combined with core muscle exercises in patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain. Compared with controls, clinical efficacy was significant, with improvements in pain scores (visual analog pain scale and numerical rating scale) and Oswestry Disability Index in the intervention group. Discussion: Acupuncture therapy combined with core muscle exercises improved pain and functional status in patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain, with favorable clinical outcomes compared with single-core muscle training. Multicenter large-sample trials are required to obtain more reliable conclusions.

BACKGROUND: Peripheral electrical nerve stimulation (PENS) reportedly improves cardiac function after myocardial ischemia (MI) by rebalancing the cardiac autonomic nervous system. The dynamic and continuous influence of the PENS on autonomic and cardiac functioning based on cardiac self-repair is not well understood. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the correlations between autonomic nervous balance and functional cardiac repair after MI and to clarify the optimal acupoint selection and time course for PENS. METHODS: The activity of the superior cervical cardiac sympathetic nerve (SN) and vagus nerve (VN) was recorded to reflect the autonomic tone directly. The Millar pressure-volume loop system was used for LV diastolic and systolic functioning. Noninvasive continuous ECG and echocardiography were performed to analyse HR, HRV, and LV function. The effect of continuous PENS (cPENS) or instant PENS (iPENS) on autonomic and cardiac indications was tested. RESULTS: SN activity and VN activity increased as compensatory self-regulation on days 7 and 14 post-MI, followed by an imbalance of autonomic tone and cardiac dysfunction on day 28. cPENS-PC6 maintained autonomic hyperexcitability, improved myocardial systolic and diastolic abilities, and reduced myocardial fibrosis on day 28 post-MI, whereas cPENS-ST36 had a limited effect. Both iPENS-PC6 and iPENS-ST36 improved the autonomic and cardiac function of rats in the cPENS groups. CONCLUSION: Rats showed autonomic fluctuations and cardiac dysfunction 28 days post-MI. cPENS produced sympathomimetic action to sustain cardiac self-compensation, but with acupoint specificity. Based on cPENS, iPENS evoked autonomic regulation and cardiac benefits without acupoint differentiation.

Context: Selecting appropriate individuals for genetic testing is essential due to the optimal treatment for maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY). However, how to effectively screen for MODY in China remains unclear. Objective: To validate the performance of current screening strategies in selecting patients with MODY based on a nationwide type 2 diabetes cohort. Methods: A panel of 14 MODY genes was analyzed from 1911 type 2 diabetes patients who were ages 15 to 35 years. Variants were evaluated according to the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics guidelines. Based on this cohort, we simulated the 2 most frequently used screening strategies, including the traditional MODY criteria and the MODY probability calculator (MPC), to assess their ability to select patients with MODY. Results: From a total of 1911 participants, 42 participants harbored pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants. The performance of the traditional criteria was sensitivity: 19.0%, specificity: 72.9%, positive predictive value (PPV): 1.6%, and missing rate: 81.0%. The optimal cut-off for MPC was 40.7%. Based on this cut-off value, the performance was sensitivity: 54.8%, specificity: 81.0%, PPV: 6.1%, and missing rate: 45.2%. Moreover, hemoglobin A1c, insulin treatment, and family history of diabetes have poor discrimination between MODY and young-onset type 2 diabetes. Conclusion: The MPC is better than traditional criteria in terms of both sensitivity and PPV. To ensure more MODY patients benefit from optimal treatment, we therefore suggest that routine genetic testing be performed on all type 2 diabetes patients who are between the ages of 15 and35 years and have MPC probability value over 40.7%.

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to develop and validate a machine learning (ML)-based fusion model to preoperatively predict Ki-67 expression levels in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) using multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). METHODS: A total of 351 patients with pathologically proven HNSCC from two medical centers were retrospectively enrolled in the study and divided into training (n = 196), internal validation (n = 84), and external validation (n = 71) cohorts. Radiomics features were extracted from T2-weighted images and contrast-enhanced T1-weighted images and screened. Seven ML classifiers, including k-nearest neighbors (KNN), support vector machine (SVM), logistic regression (LR), random forest (RF), linear discriminant analysis (LDA), naive Bayes (NB), and eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) were trained. The best classifier was used to calculate radiomics (Rad)-scores and combine clinical factors to construct a fusion model. Performance was evaluated based on calibration, discrimination, reclassification, and clinical utility. RESULTS: Thirteen features combining multiparametric MRI were finally selected. The SVM classifier showed the best performance, with the highest average area under the curve (AUC) of 0.851 in the validation cohorts. The fusion model incorporating SVM-based Rad-scores with clinical T stage and MR-reported lymph node status achieved encouraging predictive performance in the training (AUC = 0.916), internal validation (AUC = 0.903), and external validation (AUC = 0.885) cohorts. Furthermore, the fusion model showed better clinical benefit and higher classification accuracy than the clinical model. CONCLUSIONS: The ML-based fusion model based on multiparametric MRI exhibited promise for predicting Ki-67 expression levels in HNSCC patients, which might be helpful for prognosis evaluation and clinical decision-making.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and defence hormones like salicylic acid (SA) and jasmonic acid (JA) play pivotal roles in triggering cell death. However, the precise mechanism governing the interaction between ROS and SA/JA remains elusive. Recently, our research revealed that RNAi mutants with suppressed expression of PROGRAMMED CELL DEATH8 (PCD8) exhibit an overabundance of tetrapyrrole intermediates, particularly uroporphyrinogen III (Uro III), leading to the accumulation of singlet oxygen (1O2) during the transition from darkness to light, thereby instigating leaf necrosis. In this investigation, we uncovered that 1O2 stimulates biosynthesis of SA and JA, activating SA/JA signalling and the expression of responsive genes in PCD8 RNAi (pcd8) mutants. Introducing NahG or knocking out PAD4 or NPR1 significantly alleviates the cell death phenotype of pcd8 mutants, while coi1 partially mitigates the pcd8 phenotype. Further exploration revealed that EX1 and GUN1 can partially rescue the pcd8 phenotype by reducing the levels of Uro III and 1O2. Notably, mutations in EX1 mutations but not GUN1, substantially diminish SA content in pcd8 mutants compared to the wild type, implying that EX1 acts as the primary mediator of 1O2 signalling-mediated SA biosynthesis. Moreover, the triple ex1 gun1 pcd8 displays a phenotype similar to ex1. Overall, our findings underscore that the 1O2-induced cell death phenotype requires EX1/GUN1-mediated retrograde signalling in pcd8 mutants, providing novel insights into the interplay between ROS and SA/JA.

BACKGROUND: Thrombocytopenia is common in patients with sepsis and septic shock. AIM: To analyse the decrease in the number of platelets for predicting bloodstream infection in patients with sepsis and septic shock in the intensive care unit. METHODS: A retrospective analysis of patients admitted with sepsis and septic shock in Xingtai People Hospital was revisited. Patient population characteristics and laboratory data were collected for analysis. RESULTS: The study group consisted of 85 (39%) inpatients with bloodstream infection, and the control group consisted of 133 (61%) with negative results or contamination. The percentage decline in platelet counts (PPCs) in patients positive for pathogens [57.1 (41.3-74.6)] was distinctly higher than that in the control group [18.2 (5.1-43.1)] (P < 0.001), whereas the PPCs were not significantly different among those with gram-positive bacteraemia, gram-negative bacteraemia, and fungal infection. Using receiver operating characteristic curves, the area under the curve of the platelet drop rate was 0.839 (95%CI: 0.783-0.895). CONCLUSION: The percentage decline in platelet counts is sensitive in predicting bloodstream infection in patients with sepsis and septic shock. However, it cannot identify gram-positive bacteraemia, gram-negative bacteraemia, and fungal infection.

Tuning the active site structure of metal-nitrogen-carbon electrocatalysts has recently attracted increasing interest. Herein, we report a bottom-up synthesis strategy in which atomically regulated N-doped polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (N-PAHs) of NxC42-x (x = 1, 2, 3, 4) were used as ligands to allow tuning of the active site's structures of M-Nx and establish correlations between the structures and electrocatalytic properties. Based on the synthesis process, detailed characterization, and DFT calculation results, active structures of Nx-Fe1-Nx in Fe1-Nx/RGO catalysts were constructed. The results demonstrated that the extra uncoordinated N atoms around the Fe1-N4 moieties disrupted the π-conjugated NxC42-x ligands, which led to more localized electronic state in the Fe1-N4 moieties and superior catalytic performance. Especially, the Fe1-N4/RGO exhibited optimized performance for ORR with E1/2 increasing by 80 mV and Jk at 0.85 V improved 18 times (compared with Fe1-N1/RGO). This synthesis strategy utilizing N-PAHs holds significant promise for enhancing the controllability of metal-nitrogen-carbon electrocatalyst preparation.

The construction of a yield loss evaluation index for the cold vortex type light-temperature-water composite adversity during rice flowering period in Northeast China is important for elucidating the impacts of cold vortex type composite disasters on rice yield loss in middle and high latitude areas. Moreover, it can provide meteorological support to ensure safe production of high-quality japonica rice in China and contribute to regional disaster reduction and efficiency improvement. By combining growth period data, meteorological data, and yield data, we delineated and constructed the composite stress occurrence index of cold vortex type light-temperature-water at the flowering stage of japonica. We analyzed the relationship between factors causing disasters and yield structure, as well as the relationship between different yield structures and yield by employing BP neural network method. We further dissected the processes involved in the causation of combined disasters. Based on the K-means clustering method and historical typical disaster years, we quantified the critical thresholds and disaster grades, and established an evaluation index and model for assessing yield loss caused by combined stress from cold vortex type light-temperature-water. Finally, we examined the spatial and temporal variations of low temperature, abundant rainfall, and reduced sunlight during the flowering period in the three provinces of Northeast China. Results showed that the critical thresholds for light, temperature, and water stress index during the flowering stage of mild, moderate, and severe cold vortex types were [0, 0.21), [0.21, 0.32), and [0.32, 0.64], respectively. The rates of yield loss were [0, 0.03), [0.03, 0.08), and [0.08, 0.096], respectively. Based on the verification results of a total of 751 samples in 11 random years from 1961 to 2020, the percentage of stations for which the production reduction grade, as calculated by the composite index developed in this study, aligning with the actual production reduction grade was 63.7%, consistently exceeding 58.0% annually. Moreover, the proportion of sites with a similarity or difference level of 1 stood at 88.3%, surpassing 85.0% in each year. The index could effectively assess the extent of rice yield loss caused by cold vortex disasters in Northeast China.
